Jacques Offenbach (Eindhoven, 1980) visual artist with a graphic background. Makes socially critical work that varies from objects, graphics, paintings, drawings, videos to digital work.
Gets excited about the themes of identity and injustice. His Jewish roots have a great influence on this theme. Draws inspiration from the words of writer and Auschwitz survivor, Elie Wiesel “The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference”

This quote resonates in my work, in the meaning I give it: A sentence like 'don't interfere' triggers me, 'just do it'. Don't be indifferent: everyone can make a difference, no matter how big or small. Constantly ask questions about the world around you. If something links to my own story, my history - such as oppression of people, when someone's identity is taken away or not allowed to be there - then I have to do something with it. I feel a need to speak out or bring it up.
